The Tanken Gekkota uses IRC's Slow Rebound Compound, a low-rebound rubber compound designed to help the tread conform to uneven ground and maintain grip across wet and dry trail surfaces. This helps the tyre hold traction over rocks, roots, rough trail surfaces, and mixed MTB terrain where control and confidence are important.

The tread uses large, aggressive blocks to provide strong braking and climbing traction, with supportive shoulder knobs to help the tyre hold through corners. The wider 27.5 x 2.80 size provides a larger contact patch for grip and control, making it a good option for riders wanting added traction and cushioning over technical terrain.
